Work with other disciplines included sand production prediction, and in-situ stress determination for enhanced reservoir exploitation. Through pioneering work into the physical means by which water enters the formation during secondary oil recovery, and through conducting injection field tests at wellsites worldwide, the way in which BP developed reservoir waterflood programs was fundamentally changed. Latterly, David coordinated BP’s worldwide wells performance management and benchmarking activities. He acted as internal and external point-of-contact for the company’s UK drilling and well service operations, and represented BP on panels to shape industry studies.
